Some people would say that the best golfer today is Tiger Woods. It is believed that even though he is having a down slide, his 14 major championships should speak for themselves. In the event that he does not make a comeback, there are other golfers waiting in the wings.
Phil Mickelson, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Steve Stricker are some of the golfers that could be in contention to take the best golfer crown. When you look at all the characteristics and qualifications Phil Mickelson seems to be on the top for number one. Most recently, he has won the Shell Houston Open.
Since 2004, Phil Mickelson has donned the green jacket three times. This is currently one shy of Tiger Woods, who has worn four jackets. Mickelson’s latest masters win was in 2010. Mickelson has a total of 39 PGA tour wins. He is currently ranked number eight on the 2011, PGA tour official world golf ranking. Phil is currently ranked 11th on the all-time PGA tour winners list. He has ranked high on the all time money list many times.
Whether you agree or disagree that Mickleson is the best golfer, he has been described as a shoo-in on the 2012, hall of fame ballot.
