The Golfers Who Did the Best the PGA in 2011

In 2011, the PGA introduced an assortment of new players to the veteran golfing world. While Tiger Woods continued to make headlines, it was certainly not for his successs on the greens and fairways. Tiger did not win a single major. He competed but often did poorly, struggling with shots that seemed effortless for him before. There were a handful of tournaments that Tiger did not even qualify for. Phil Mickelson continues to be a fierce competitor, and with Tiger trying to get his mojo back many sportscasters thought the lefty might make his move. However, Phil had an off year too. This set the stage for a younger crew of golfers to take over.

Some of the best golfers on the PGA Tour this year included Rory Mcllroy, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, and Dustin Johnson. They were fresh and exciting players. They were like a breath of fresh air in a sport that has long been branded with a few popular players. Of the four men, only Rory Mcllroy won a major championship. He captured the U.S. Open earlier this year. The PGA Tour ended in America this year with the Fall Series. The European Tour, however, is underway.
